HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?
- PT—prothrombin time—checks for prothrombin deficiency, warfarin ther-
apy 11 to 15 seconds. - INR—monitors effectiveness of warfarin therapy.
- PTT—partial thromboplastin time—monitors effectiveness of therapeutic
range for heparin, 25 to 38 seconds. - Bleeding time—the amount of time necessary to stop bleeding from a small
break made in the skin—3 to 7 minutes.
