Beatles’ impromptu
concert on the rooftop
of the Apple offices

forms the centrepiece
of the films.band’s history, although
Jackson has denied that
it is a “whitewash”,
glossing over tensions
in the band. He insists
that it is an unflinching
look at the sessions,
including everything
that Lindsay-Hogg
could not show in 1970,
when the band and
their associates were
more hands-on in
the editing process.
“There’s no villains,footage was shot by
the British director
Michael Lindsay-Hogg
for the 1970 movie Let
It Be, and Jackson and
his team have restored
the video using the
same painstaking
techniques deployed
for his First World War
documentary, They
Shall Not Grow Old.
The project casts new
light on the most
contested period in thefilmed during the Let It
Be sessions in January
1969, into three two-
hour films available on
consecutive nights on
the streaming service.
The films have been
made with the co-
operation of Paul
McCartney and Ringo
Starr, the band’s two
surviving members,
and the families of John
Lennon and George
