The heroes in the image appear in
chariots charging at one another, part
of the story told by Homer in which
Achilles plunges a spear through Hec-
tor’s neck. The mosaic features a sur-
prise because it shows an alternative
ending. Homer told how Achilles was
so bitter towards Hector that he refused
a request to return the body even if he

jected to a “medical definition of child
torture” and an “unsurvivable brain
injury”. His ordeal included food depri-
vation, being made to stand for 14 hours
a day and being poisoned with salt, the
court was told.
The jury had previously been told
that Tustin would message Hughes
within minutes of him leaving their
home in Solihull with an audio file of

However, the last panel in the sequence
shows Achilles accepting this request.
Priam, Hector’s father, is shown placing
gold objects on to a large set of scales so
that they match the weight of his son’s
body. Achilles is shown watching.
Historic England said it was as im-
portant as the discovery in 1963 of a

which featured Christ and was moved

The last moments of a six-year-old boy
repeatedly saying “no one loves me”
and “no one is going to feed me” hours
before he was allegedly murdered by
his father and stepmother have been
revealed in a video.
Arthur Labinjo-Hughes can be seen
lying on the living room floor, where he
was forced to sleep for days, then
struggling to stand as he limps around
the room. His pyjamas appear to be
hanging off him.
He is heard saying “no one loves me”
four times and “no one is going to feed
me” seven times in under a minute,
hours before he was allegedly killed by
Thomas Hughes, 29, and Emma Tustin,

8.30am on June 16 last year, has been

boy cried hours before death

saying he had started crying again or
that he had not stopped crying.
The jury was told that Arthur was so
weak in his final hours that he struggled
to lift the covers when he woke up. He
was killed when his head was banged
“repeatedly against a hard surface” by
Tustin, it is alleged.
She allegedly beat the boy then wait-
ed 13 minutes to call 999, and told the
caller that he was “barely breathing”
after he “headbutted the floor”. He died
in hospital the next day.
Yesterday a photo taken by Joanne
Hughes, Arthur’s grandmother, of his
bruises was shown to the jury. She told
the court she offered to send it to social
services but they “didn’t want to see” it.
On a visit, they put the marks down to
“child play” and had “no concerns”.
The hearing was halted yesterday
when Tustin was taken to hospital.
The trial continues.

Psychotic killer ate cannabis brownie

A killer who stabbed his girlfriend more
than 30 times during a psychotic epi-
sode after he ate a cannabis brownie
has been jailed for eight years and eight
months.
Jake Notman did not know “what
was real and what was not” when he
stabbed and ran over Lauren Bloomer,

prosecutors accepted psychiatric evi-
dence, including analysis of a mobile
phone call recording made by the vic-
tim during the killing, that Notman,
who worked at Jaguar Land Rover’s site
in Solihull, was divorced from reality
and could not have formed the intent
required for murder.
