Lisa Gleim

A

rtist Lisa Gleim, Atlanta native and
Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine
Arts graduate, has long found her inspira-
tion outdoors in its ever-changing light
and atmosphere. Her current narrative
realism wildlife work, instantly wildly
applauded and widely received, is made
spellbinding by her evident and engaging
passion for animals, conservation, travel
and storytelling.
Gleim’s fi rst successful career as a
portrait artist expanded into genres she
knew well. The Lowcountry marshes,
coastal and marine landscapes and
their inhabitants were quickly noticed
by gallerists such as Cheryl Newby and

Beverly McNeil, and sought after by
collectors. Her portraits of water dogs
made an especially big splash.
Her work also earned her signature
member status with American Women
Artists (AWA), American Society of Marine
Artists, Artists for Conservation and other
prestigious art associations. One of her
fi rst wildlife narratives appearing in an
AWA exhibition was acquired by the Booth
Western Art Museum for its permanent
collection. Another, What Hive We Here,
brought spirited bidding at the 2021 C.M.
Russell Museum annual auction.
In her newest wildlife series, Gleim
sets subjects against various ephemera,

including vintage national park maps.
These subtle backdrops add historic
information, expanding the story of each
subject. This series is represented by
McLarry Fine Art, Paderewski Fine Art
and Montana Trails Gallery.
Gleim says, “I hope viewers will linger
and ponder the role and character of a
long horn, a burro, a bear...beyond the
particular framed moment.”
