cottsdale Artists’ School in Scottsdale,
Arizona, hosts its 28th annual Beaux
Arts fundraiser this November. An entirely
virtual event this year, the Beaux Arts silent
auction is the school’s biggest fundraiser,
with 100 percent of the proceeds going
directly to SAS.
“We have so many fantastic artists
that donate and keep us going—Kevin
Macpherson, G. Eric Slayton, Sandy Scott,
Daniel Keys [and more]” says Skye Fallon,
director of marketing and communica-
tions at Scottsdale Artists’ School. “We
have oils, we have watercolors, we have
sculpture...We just have such a variety
in all different sizes.” The auction also
off ers a limited set of juried work from the
school’s student artists as well as travel
packages.”
Each year, a signature artist is selected
to participate in Beaux Arts with the 2021
honor going to Timothy Horn. He has
donated to the sale the oil painting Two
Bedroom Ranch, which depicts a scene the
artist encountered while driving around the
Sacramento River Delta. “He’s just a genuine, down to earth guy...
He likes to go to the scrappy places...
the out-of-the-way places that are more
unique,” says Fallon.
And according to Fallon, the
Beaux Arts fundraiser is stronger
than ever—the virtual platform
has created opportunities for
a much wider pool of artists
to participate, from across the
country and across the world.
“It’s a success because of the
artists we have that donate,” she says.
Moving forward, the fundraiser
will likely be a crossover of
a virtual and a live event.
The auction begins
at noon MST on
November 10 and
continues through
November 13 until 6 p.m.
Interactive activities will happen
on social media throughout
the four days including artist
interviews, studio tours and
opportunities to win prizes.Stronger than Ever
