GRIZZLY BEAR


Grizzlies are born in the summer.
FALSE: Cubs are born in the winter
while their mother is in her den. She
usually gives birth to twins.

A grizzly’s claw is almost as long
as your hand.
TRUE: Its curved front claws—used for
digging, catching food, and fighting—
can be four inches long.

If you’re cooking for a grizzly, it’ll
have the salad and fresh fish.
TRUE: This omnivore eats plants, fruit,
and seeds. It also eats mammals and fish.

Mother grizzly bears are great
big scaredy-cats.
FALSE: Few animals are tougher than a
female bear with cubs. She’ll even attack
and kill a male grizzly to protect her
babies.

If you see a grizzly playing, it’s a
young bear.
FALSE: Grizzlies of all ages play. They
wrestle and tumble together, chase
birds, and slide or roll down snowy hills.
