Guys are the target audience, but don’t think their wives and girlfriends
don’t know which images their guys appreciate. Calendars show off your tal-
ent and create the perception that yours is a cutting-edge, creative glamour
studio. Since it’s a visual resume, make sure only your best work goes in it.
Insist that you have some input into the layout so it makes your work look
its best.
For the past five years, I’ve done the photography for a radio station cal-
endar. No money changes hands; it’s all a trade. The station gives me dollar
for dollar in advertising time, but indirectly I get much more advertising
than that. The DJs call these promotional mentions, and they’re worth a lot.

The photo for Roxy’s page in the 2006 calen-
dar is pure pin-up, and it’s one of my favorites.
A local car club volunteered the ’76 Corvette
she posed with, and Roxy bought the sexy
swimsuit to match the color of the car.
