Bloemers looking for

CHS girls to have fun

as they improve

girls’ basketball roster,

only two of those

Fighting Scots were

seniors.

That’ll be helpful as

former varsity boys’

basketball coach and

last year’s JV leader

Todd Bloemers takes

over the reigns as the

head coach of the varsi-

ty girls’ team from for-

mer coach Mike Glass.

“With a new coach-

ing staff and philoso-

phy, it is likely that our

program will need time

to grow together,”

coach Bloemers said.

“Our athletes have

been engaged through-

out the process and we

are hopeful that the cul-

ture of fun and hard

work we are trying to

build will create an

atmosphere of excite-

ment and engagement.”

“Our players have

committed to improv-

ing in the weight room

through our training

and player develop-

ment programs,” he

added.

That group of players

returning includes senior for-

ward Morgan Babb, senior

forward/center Brinlee Barry,

senior guard Tory Woodwyk,

junior guard Gracie

Gortmaker, junior guard

Kiana Haywood, sophomore

forward Teresa Abraham as

well as senior center Julia

Walma.

Bloemers likes his team’s

speed and athleticism over-

all.

The fairly young team will

also look for contributions

from junior guards

Avah Winstrom,

Cadence Bommarito

and Jordan Nyland, and

sophomore guards

Mackenzie DeVries

and Kendall Maynard.

“Our team is still in

the process of setting

individual and team

goals for the season,

but our overall outlook

is to approach each

practice and game as an

opportunity to improve

the quality of what we

have to offer as coaches

and players. Creating a

loose and free atmos-

phere where competi-

tion is paramount will

help create the edge

and mindset that we

need to move our pro-

gram forward and com-

pete in the OK Red

Conference.”

The OK Red brings

back in the defending

Division 1 State

Champions from

Hudsonville this season

as well as traditional

powers Rockford and

East Kentwood who

Bloemers expects to be

as strong as usual.

The Caledonia girls

were scheduled to take

on Covenant Christian

last night and will be in

action against some local

rivals before the holiday

break visiting Wayland Dec.

7, hosting Lowell Dec. 10

and visiting Thornapple

Kellogg Dec. 16.

“It has been an exciting

summer and fall for our bas-

ketball program,” Bloemers

said. “We are proud of the

time that our families have

invested in helping our play-

ers develop skills and chem-

istry with their teammates

and we are looking forward

to a season of learning,

growing, and competing

together.”

NOTICE OF ORDINANCE ADOPTION

To: The residents and property owners of Yankee Springs Township, Barry County,

Michigan and any other interested persons.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Yankee Springs Township Board adopted

Ordinance No. 11-01-2021 at a regular board meeting held on November 11,

2021. A summary of the Ordinance is as follows:
      ORDINANCE NO. 11-01-
      AMENDMENT TO WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM ORDINANCE
      SECTION I. AMENDMENT OF WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM ORDINANCE
      This Section provides that this Ordinance shall amend, in its entirety, the
      Township's current
      Water Supply System Ordinance, to be replaced with the following:

126.000- WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM UTILITY ORDINANCE

An Ordinance to provide for the operation, maintenance and management of

the Yankee Springs Township Water System; to establish connection proce-

dures, permit fees and to regulate the use of said system; to prescribe proce-

dures for securing such public water service and the rates and charges for

same; to provide penalties for the violation of said Ordinance; and to repeal all

ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith.

ARTICLE I. Establishment of Water Supply System Utility. This Article

creates a water supply system within the Township for the purpose of providing and

maintaining water supply services within the Township.

ARTICLE II. Definitions. This Article defines words and phrases as they are

used throughout the Ordinance.

ARTICLE III. Control, Operation and Maintenance of the System. This

Article pertains to management and control; ownership; operation and mainte-

nance; right of entry to premises where water used; and the fiscal year for opera-

tion of the water supply system.

ARTICLE IV. Rules and Regulations. This Article pertains to additional rules

and regulations; winter "let-run" service; lawn sprinkling; turning on water services;

limitations on use of water; cross connections; water purity; compliance with state

and federal standards and regulations; contract service; and save harmless clause.

ARTICLE V. Liability of Township. This Article pertains to the Township's

non-liability and the Township's endeavor to provide continuous water service.

ARTICLE VI. Meters and Appurtenances. This Article pertains to reg-

ulations for the unauthorized tampering with or injuring of the system and its appur-

tenances; permits for hydrant use; service of more than one premises by the same

meter; prohibition on by-passing meter; use of water pipes as electrical ground;

repairs; location of meter and responsibility thereof; and the return of meters to the

Township.

ARTICLE VII. Permits; Permit Fees; Installation. This Article pertains to

the application process to connect to the water supply system; the manner in which

consumers can connect to the water supply system; and interior connection of plumb-

ing.

ARTICLE VIII. User Rates; Collections; Accountability. This Article pertains

to the establishment of rates; types of rates; no free service; due date for billings;

accounts; adjustments for inaccurate meters or meter failure; estimating con-

sumption; termination of services - voluntary or otherwise; lien rights; and adop-

tion of budget and annual audit.

ARTICLE IX. Connection Fees; Charges; Procedures. This Article pertains

to connection fees; changes in use; connection of new construction to the sys-

tem; connection of existing improved properties to the system; water system

connection deadline; and enforcement in the event of a failure to connect to system.

ARTICLE X. Violations and Enforcement. This Article pertains to violations

and enforcement of this Ordinance.

SECTION II. SEVERABILITY

This Section provides that the various provisions of this Ordinance are sev-

erable from each other, and if any of them are found to be contrary to law, such a

finding shall not void any other provision of this Ordinance.

SECTION III. EFFECTIVE DATE/REPEAL

This Section provides that this Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after

publication after adoption. This Section further provides that all Township ordinanc-

es or parts of ordinances that are in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.

in the Office of the Clerk of Yankee Springs Township at the address set forth below

and that a copy of the Ordinance may be inspected, reviewed or purchased by

contacting the undersigned during regular business hours on regular working days.

http://www.yankeespringstwp.org.
