class on Tingle Creek field
Chacun Pour Soi has been beaten just
twice in nine starts since joining
trainer Willie Mullins and he can
show his class in the grade one Betfair
Tingle Creek Chase (2.25) at
Sandown Park today.
He fluffed his lines when a hot
favourite for the Champion Chase at
Cheltenham in March, looking the
winner for most of the race but
faltering late on and fading into third.
He showed that not to be his
true form when bouncing back to
comfortably win the Irish Champion
Chase at Punchestown in April,
where Champion Chase runner-up
Nube Negra trailed in a well-beaten
third.
Chacun Pour Soi’s only other
defeat for Mullins came against the
classy A Plus Tard two years ago
and he can claim a sixth top-flight
success.
Nube Negra made an impressive
return to action when beating
Politologue at Cheltenham last
month but he goes particularly well
at that track and has yet to win in
three tries at this level. A greater
threat may come from Greaneteen,
who was runner-up in this race 12
months ago and won a grade one race
over this course and distance in April.
Third Time Lucki heads the
betting for the Close Brothers Henry
VIII Novices’ Chase (1.50) but
Edwardstone can take his measure.
The latter looked set to win before
being brought down on his reappear-
ance at Warwick last month and
made amends in fine style back at the
same track last time. He can cope
with this step up in class.Highland Hunter can defy top
weight in the Betfair Exchange
London National Handicap Chase
(3.00). He ended last season with a
good fifth in the Midlands Grand
National and that form is proving
solid. This race is less competitive and
he can make a winning return.
Native River is approaching the
veteran stage but can repeat his 2019
success in the Unibet Many Clouds
Chase (2.05). He was only third 12
months ago but Colin Tizzard, his
trainer, had a poor campaign and the
stable has been in much better form
this term.
Scottish Grand National winner
Mighty Thunder looks the one to be
on in the Unibet Becher Handicap
Chase (2.40). He finished fourth in
the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby
last month and that run should have
