AirPlay comes to the Mac for the first time, and
the Shortcuts app is also new.


On watchOS, users can set Portrait mode
photos as their watch face, and Memories
can be added so that you never forget an
important moment in your life. It’s now also
possible to share photos via Messages and
Mail, whilst a new Home app means that you
can control your smart connected devices from
your wrist. The Wallet app has been given some
love as part of this year’s release, meaning
you can add your home key to your watch,
and thanks to the Ultra Wideband technology
in Apple Watch Series 6, your digital car key
recognises you as you approach your vehicle.
Messages and Mail have been overhauled
on the watch, too, with a new library of GIFs
and the ability to share music from your wrist,
and the Focus app has been ported from
iOS to watchOS. Breathe has been renamed
Mindfulness and allows users to take a moment
to meditate and reflect after a busy day, whilst
the Sleep app checks your respiratory rate
and tracks sleeping trends over time. Other
changes include a Pilates workout option, tai
chi, and exciting changes to the Apple Fitness+
experience on the watch.


All in all, this year’s updates are set to change
the way we use our smartphones, computers,
