Williams, George Huntston. The Radical Reformation. 3rd ed. Kirksville,
MO: Sixteenth Century Journal Publishers, Inc., 1992. A big, informative
book, including not only the best history of the Anabaptist movement
available but also a lucid account of the social unrest of 16th-century Europe.


Wills, Garry. Papal Sin: Structures of Deceit. New York: Doubleday, 2000.
A progressive American Catholic’s diagnosis of the ills of his church by
pointing to its inability to admit past errors.


Wright, N. T. The Challenge of Jesus: Rediscovering Who Jesus Was and
Is. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 1999. A leading scholar gives an
illuminating and readable summary of his research on the historical Jesus.
Wright, an Anglican bishop who sometimes publishes popular work under
the name “Tom Wright,” is the most eminent scholar on the conservative end
of the spectrum of historical Jesus scholarship.

summary of the massive scholarship of his The Resurrection of the Son of
