Tara’s top tips for starting out with weddings
Having a successful and thriving business relies on so much more than just camera techniques.
Tara shares some of her best tips for getting your name out there and honing your creativity
1 “Find your style of photography and
keep it consistent throughout your
work. That way your couples or clients
will know what look to expect from you.”
2 “Become skilled and confident in a
few areas of photography, rather than
being mediocre at a lot of different genres.”
3 “Collaborate with other suppliers
within the industry and create images
together. Styled bridal shoots are a great
way to network, make friends and build your
portfolio. If you aren’t ready to organise
your own shoots, try to shadow another
photographer and watch how they work. You
can never put too much time into learning.”
4 “Be prepared and organised before
a wedding day. Make sure you have
all of the information, timings and details
you need at least an month in advance of
the day. I always find that having lists and
knowing exactly what is happening and
when takes a lot of the stress away.
5 “Social media is important and worth
putting your time into. Instagram is
a really powerful tool for photography, and
can be great for generating enquires.”
