Knitting in the Round
Knitting in the round, or circular knitting, is what you do when
you want to knit a tube. Hats, socks, mittens, gloves, and skirts are
frequently knit in the round. When you knit in the round, you knit
around and around on the right side only. So if you’re working in
stockinette stitch, knitting in the round eliminates the need to purl.
