Teach Yourself Visually Knitting

FINISHING

1 Weave in ends.

Note:Because a scarf is viewed on both sides, take care to weave in ends as inconspicuously as possible.

2 Block the scarf so that the edges are even. (See pages 138–139.)

3 To make fringe, cut four 12-inchstrands of yarn for each bunch of fringe.
Add five bunches of fringe to each end of the scarf, using a crochet hook.
(See pages 184–185 for instructions on finishing with fringe.)

SCARF

1 CO 215 sts.

2 Work in garter st (knit every row) until the scarf is the desired width, making
sure you have enough yarn left to BO (that is, at least four times the length of
the scarf). (The sample shown was knit to 4 inches in width and used almost
two full hanks of Naturwolle Black Forest Soft.)

3 BO sts at an even tension. Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inchtail, and pull tail through
last st to secure.
