Pattern Stitch

PILLOW COVER
1 CO 35 sts in double strand A.
2 Beg with row 1, work in Andalusian stitch pattern until piece measures
12 inches, ending with a WS row.
3 BO sts in patt. Cut yarn and pull tail through last st to secure.
4 Repeat steps 1–3 to create second side of cover.

FINISHING
1 Weave in ends.
2 Lightly steam on WS to block and reduce curling.
3 Hold squares together with WS facing each other. Work picot crochet (see
page 195) in double strand B around three sides to join and embellish as
follows: Working left to right, starting at corner and working through both thicknesses at the same time, work 1 single crochet (sc),
*ch3, insert the crochet hook back into the same st and pull up loop, yo, and pull yarn through both loops on hook (this re-inserted
chain is the picot); sc across next 3 sts; rep from *around three sides. Do not cut yarn or tie off end. Leave loop on holder.
4 Insert pillow form into cover, taking care not to let edging unravel and making sure the pillow form corners are tucked into the
pillow cover corners.
5 Continue picot edging across fourth side to finish. Cut yarn and pull tail through last loop to secure. Thread the end into a tapestry
needle and close edging to conceal end.
