LINEN STITCH (EVEN NUMBER OF STS)
Row 1 (RS): K1, slip 1 wyif; rep from to last 2 sts, end k2.


Row 2 (WS): P1, slip 1 wyib; rep from to last 2 sts, end p2.


Rep rows 1 and 2 for linen stitch.


SMALL BASKETWEAVE STITCH
(MULT OF 4 STS PLUS 3)


Rows 1 and 3 (RS): Knit.


Row 2 (WS): K3, p1; rep from to last 3 sts, end k3.


Row 4: K1, *p1, k3; rep from *to last 2 sts, end p1, k1.
Rep rows 1–4 for small basketweave stitch.

RIBBING STITCH (ODD NUMBER OF STS)
Row 1 (WS): P1, *k1, p1; rep from *to end.
Row 2 (RS): K1, *p1, k1; rep from *to end.
Rep rows 1 and 2 for ribbing stitch.

Pattern Stitches

FRONT PANEL


1 With size 11 needles and A, CO 32 sts.


2 Work in linen st until piece measures 5^1 ⁄ 4 inches from beg, ending with a
WS row.


3 Slip sts onto size 10 needle and use second size 10 needle to BO sts in patt.


BACK PANEL


Make a back panel just like the front.

1 With size 10 needles and B, CO 15 sts.


2 Work in small basketweave st until piece measures 18^1 ⁄ 2 inches (or the same
length as the sum of the bottom edge plus both sides of one of the linen st

3 BO sts in patt.
