FINISHING


1 Weave in ends.


2 Block pieces, if desired.


3 Whipstitch (see page 188) the panels together in C, as shown. Reinforce the
top corners with a few extra stitches.


4 Sew button to center of top edge of front panel, using a few separated plies
of B.


BUTTON LOOP


1 Use B to make crochet chain (see page 192) that is 3^1 ⁄ 4 inches long, leaving
tails on each end long enough to sew loop to top edge of back panel.


2 Sew ends of chain at center of back panel, about 1 inch apart. Secure and
weave in ends.


HANDLES


1 Using size 10 needles and C, pick up and
k5 sts, starting about 1^1 ⁄ 2 inches in from
side edge, leaving a 10-inchtail. Turn.


2 Work in ribbing st, beg with row 1 (WS),
and continue until handle measures
81 ⁄ 2 –9^1 ⁄ 2 inches, or desired length.


3 BO sts in patt, leaving a 15-inchtail.


4 Sew bound-off end of handle to other
end of panel, as shown.


5 Rep steps 1–4 for second handle.


6 Use tails to wrap yarn around seam as shown at far right.
