SSK (LEFT-SLANTING) DECREASE


Slip first st as if to knit and then slip next st as if to knit. Insert left needle into front of slipped sts and knit them together.

BACK


1 Using B and long-tail CO method (see pages 16–17), CO 59 (67, 75, 83) sts.


2 Change to A and, beg with a purl row, work 7 (9, 11, 13) rows in St st.


3 Next row (RS): Starting with row 1 of chart A, work through all 13 rows of color
patt, beg and ending rows where indicated on chart.


4 Continue working St st in only A until piece measures 6^1 ⁄ 2 (8, 9^1 ⁄ 2 , 11) inches from
beg, ending with a WS row.


5 Shape raglan armhole: BO 3 (4, 5, 5) sts beg next 2 rows.


6 Next row (RS): K3, ssk, k across to last 5 sts, k2tog, k3.


7 Next row: Purl.


8 Rep these last 2 rows (steps 6 and 7) until 23 (25, 27, 29) sts rem.


9 Work another 2 inches (about 12 rows) without shaping, ending with a WS row. Place sts on holder.


FRONT


Complete as for back, leaving sts on holder for later.
