A left-slanting make one is just like a right-slanting make one, except the horizontal strand is picked up from front to back.

RIGHT-SLANTING MAKE ONE
WITH PURL STITCH

1 Before a purl stitch, pick up the horizontal
strand with the left needle, from front to
back.

2 Insert the right needle into the back of the
loop from back to frontand purl it.

FINISHED INCREASE

After you work a few rows, you can see how this increase slants to the left.

WITH KNIT STITCH

1 Before a knit stitch, use the left needle to
pick up the horizontal strand from front to
backbetween the last stitch worked on the
right needle and the next stitch to be worked
from the left needle.

2 Insert the right needle into the back of the
loop and knit it.
