Teach Yourself Visually Knitting

(Michael S) #1

If you make an error that can’t be
fixed by using any of the previous
methods, you probably need to unravel
some of your work. For example, if
you are working a particular stitch
pattern and make a mistake in your
pattern that is visibly wrong, you can
unravel back to that point and correct
it. If you make an error that is on the
same row that you’re working on, you
can unravel stitch by stitch.

When you get good at unraveling stitch by stitch, it will feel like you’re knitting
backward, or “un-knitting.”

UNRAVELING STITCH BY STITCH ON THE KNIT SIDE

1 On the knit side, hold the working yarn in back and insert the left needle
from front to back into the stitch in the row below the next stitch on the
right needle.

2 Drop the stitch above off the right needle and pull the working yarn to
un-knit it.
