BEST GRILL
Camp Chef Woodwind Wi-Fi 24 $900
The Woodwind Wi-Fi 24 is an attractive, versatile pellet
grill that fits in tight spaces due to its small footprint. It
has remarkable heat distribution and consistency due
to the advanced digital proportional integral derivative
(PID) controller. We found the grill’s sear zone effective
and straightforward to operate by exposing the center of
the cooking grate to the direct heat of the f lames. With the
Wi-Fi functionality enabled, we could set the temperature
and monitor the food without hovering over the grill.
BEST PIZZA OVEN
Ooni Karu 12 $399
Ooni has made it possible—and easy—to make
Instagram-worthy, artisan pizza at home with its
Karu 12. We were as impressed with cooking a deli-
cious pizza in 60 seconds as we were with the design
and construction of the multi-fuel oven. Made from
stainless steel and riveted with tight seams, it’s
sleek, compact, and simple to set up.
THE ONE PRODUCT THAT HELPED ME MOST IN 2021
My testing of Ryobi’s 54-Inch Zero Turn Electric Riding
Mower ($5,499) coincided with the engine failure of my
1986 Cub Cadet this past summer, so it turned into a long-
term evaluation. Spending two months regularly cutting
three-plus acres of grass with a battery-powered mower
was instructive. I could actually mow faster—although I
broke it up over two days because of battery run-time. I also
saved about $150 not having to buy gas for two months.

EXPERIENCE I’ve been swinging hammers,
twisting screwdrivers, and turning wrenches
since before I was 10, with stints after that
working on a farm and in a car shop.
