’90s, I used to religiously
watch Popular Mechanics
for Kids with my brother,
and I still remember
how to get an egg into a
bottle—that’s hard to beat.

CURRENT PASSION
PROJECT
Translating a book,
Šikmý kostel by Karin
Lednická, from Czech to
English. It’s a historical
fiction about a Czech
town that vanished.
It’s much harder than I
thought. Sometimes I get
stuck on a single word
for hours, looking for a
perfect translation to
carry over the meaning,
and it’s just so satisfying
when I find it.
