Roll up for the latest in essential smart home upgrades
Ikea Kadrilj
We think connected blinds have the potential to be a
big part of smart lighting setups – you can set them to
raise in the morning, lower at sunset, or come down as
part of a movie-night lighting scene. This obviously
helps you make the most of natural light, but is also
useful for security, making you look like you’re home
when you’re not. But it’s always been quite expensive
to get into smart blinds – not with these models from
Ikea, coming later this year, which will start at around
£99 per window. They work with the Ikea Trådfri
system, so are a perfect match with the bulbs we
recommend, and this means they’ll be compatible
with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit.
There’s also a matching blackout blind called Fyrtur,
with all the same advantages, which might be better
for your bedroom if you live in a light area (or just
need to block everything out to sleep).
