DRAWING MANGA GIRLS
Another popular style for manga females is the “Pollyanna.” The look is frilly
Victorian-era with a long, flowing skirt and puffed sleeves. It can be used in a period
story or as an eccentric alternative look in a modern-day tale.
Start with a basic
figure of lines and
ovals, and add a
head and hair.
Then create an
upstanding collar,
with a bow and
brooch at the neck.
Finish the top by
drawing it in to a fitted
waist. Then give it full
sleeves into fitted cuffs.
Next, add a ruffled
shoulder detail
across the top and
out beyond the
shoulder joints.
Add a full, rippling
skirt with plenty of folds,
falling down to just above
ankle level.
