DRAWING MANGA GIRLS
If your character is facing battle in the far reaches of space, a suit of reinforced metallic
armor like this is essential. The armor itself covers the most vulnerable areas of the body
and is worn over a thin, flexible black leotard made of extra-strength thread. Armor can
be drawn as a series of randomly assorted shapes, but it must be convincing to the viewer.
Start with a figure
constructed from
lines and ovals, and
give her a head
and hair. Start the
costume by draw-
ing a high neck and
shoulder plates,
and then a V detail.
Put some flesh on
the arms, adding a
suggestion of pads
at the elbows, then
draw gauntlets
with cuffs.
Finish the profile of
the breastplate just
above waist level.
Add a detail on the
neckline. Now work
on the lower part of
the costume, flesh-
ing out the legs as
you go. Add chunky
hip plates and knee
pads; then finish off
the rounded con-
tours of the boots.
