In the past, press releases were sent out by mail to scores of
media destinations, such as newspapers, and TV and radio stations.
Nowadays, there is a wide variety of websites that deal exclusively in
handling press releases, and many are free. The great thing about these
sites is that they offer tutorials on the correct way to write and layout a
press release. That means if you know nothing about how to write a
press release, you can quickly learn.
As with articles, you will find many services that offer to send
your releases to scores of other press release sites.


Make it Newsworthy
The process of creating a press release is simple. First of all,
make sure your release is talking about something that is actually
newsworthy. For instance, you have partnered with other businesses to
sponsor a charity event. Never use a press release as a place to advertise
your business or your services. That’s not the goal. The goal is
exposure, to get your name and the name of your business before the
public eye.
While it is not meant to be an ad, every press release will go out
bearing your name, the name of your business, your location, and your
website addresses. Every release will work to drive readers to your
websites.
