Bandit Signs: An Effective Strategy
Bandit signs are the ugly-colored roadside signs put out to attract
attention. The most common one for real estate investors says, “We Buy
Houses.” Of course they might also say, “For Sale By Owner,” or “Why
Rent?”
The term “bandit sign” came about because the signs are
removed almost as soon as they are put out. And yet there are still a
number of clever ways to make use of this strategy.
Place your signs in the yard of all your properties. Ask friends
and neighbors if you can place a sign in their yards. Post them high on a
utility pole so they are not easily removed.
(It is worth noting that some communities have stricter rules than
others regarding the placement of signs. Some will administer fines for
those who break the rules. Be aware of the ordinances in your particular
city and act accordingly.)
