in the region. Zenon also traveled to ALEXANDRIA, Pales-
tine, and Syria. His archives, depicting his historical
period in Egypt in detail, have survived.
Zerukha It was the site called MALKATAon the western
shore of THEBES. AMENHOTEP III (r. 1391–1353 B.C.E.)
built his vast pleasure palaces and shrines at Malkata, and
an artificial lake was created on the site.
