The Wiley Finance Series : Handbook of News Analytics in Finance

(Chris Devlin) #1

.InfoNgen Sentiment Analysis takes a unique approach, using custom sentiment
taxonomies that are relevant to individual industries or document types. For financial
research documents, the sentiment engine performs linguistic textual analysis on an
analyst’s opinion about any company covered in the research report. A sentiment
score is calculated for individual data items (e.g., EPS, revenue, operational matrix,
business outlook, etc.) as well as for the entire document. For news, rather than
applying sentiment at the story level, InfoNgen calculates sentiment at the entity
level (e.g., company, product, brand).
