D O O R S
Of DOORS requires:
4.4.6.1 FLUSH OVERLAY to be the default style.
4.4.6.2 VISIBLE EDGES, after doors and drawers are closed, to match the exposed surface; however:
4.4.6.2.1 BANDING is not required at back beveled doors. M
4.4.6.2.2 BANDING is required at back beveled doors. MM
4.4.6.3 CORE THICKNESS to be a minimum of 11/16” (17.5 mm).
4.4.6.4 MAXIMUM cabinet door size shall be 24” (610 mm) in width and 80” (2032 mm) in height.
4.4.6.5 1-3/8” (34.9 mm) or THICKER doors to be governed by Section 9.

STOP SILENCERS to be installed at the top and bottom of all hinged cabinet doors
(on the closing edge) to properly align the door and silence its closing. MM
4.4.6.7 CORE to be of an approved particleboard, medium-density fiberboard, or otherwise engineered
core.

VENEER, OSB, or LUMBER cores are not guaranteed against warping,
telegraphing, or delamination.
4.4.6.8 LOCKS to be furnished ONLY where shown on cabinet elevations of contract documents, unless
specifications denote specific location requirements, and:
4.4.6.8.1 They WITHSTAND a minimum of 50 lb (22.7 kg) pull force in the locked position.
4.4.6.8.2 STRIKES are required.

H I N G E D
When HINGED:
4.4.6.9.1 Doors shall STOP, as applicable, against the cabinet body at the bottom (except
at handicapped units), sides, and top stretcher; however:
4.4.6.9.1.1 At FLUSH INSET doors, a positive stop or hardware member
acting as such is permitted, and:

STOPS shall be provided at both
sides of the door opening. M

At PAIRED DOORS below a drawer, a rail,
stretcher, or partition (full or partial) shall be
provided.

HINGES shall be installed by the manufacturer, and:
4.4.6.9.2.1 Operate properly without binding.
4.4.6.9.2.2 Exposed ADJACENT HINGES shall align horizontally.

4.4.6.9.2.4 At GRADE I hinges, doors:
4.4.6.9.2.4.1 Under 48” (1219 mm) in height shall have a
minimum of two hinges.
4.4.6.9.2.4.2 48” (1219 mm) to 84” (2134 mm) height shall
have a minimum of three hinges.
4.4.6.9.2.4.3 Over 84” (2134 mm) in height shall have a
minimum of four hinges.

At GRADE II hinges, doors:

Under 40” (1016 mm) in height shall have a
minimum of two hinges.

40” (1016 mm) to 60” (1524 mm) in height
shall have a minimum of three hinges.
