I reviewed a proposal for the Canadian national Killiam faculty award.

I was interviewed for an article about maize genomics that appeared in BioScience in 2012 (a

professional publication from AIBS); two pictures of my UNCW students were featured in the

article.

I was invited to be the discussion leader for one of the four sessions at the Quantitative Genetics and

Genomics Gordon conference in 2013. I gave a presentation to introduce the topic area and provide

background for the research talks that were in my session; I also selected the student and postdoc

talks for my session. I was nominated for vice-chair of the conference (but luckily a European was

elected, as the next conference will be in Europe).

I was inducted into the James F. Merritt million dollar club at UNCW in 2010.
