BIO 603 ­ Physiology and Biochemistry

BIO 690 ­ Seminar

For resident students, attendance at departmental seminars is required. Candidates are required to present

two scientific seminars (dissertation proposal and dissertation defense) at UNCW within four years of

residency. Candidates are expected to orally present their research at least once at other institutions or

(inter­) national scientific meetings. Credit is awarded during the candidate’s last semester of residency.

BIO 694 ­ Practicum in College Biology Teaching

Credits: 2

(594) An introduction to theory, research, and practice in college biology teaching. Combines supervised

internship in biology teaching with formal classroom instruction. For graduate students who have been

awarded teaching assistantships in the Department of Biology and Marine Biology and others with

permission of instructor. Ph.D. students will be required to engage in limited formal instruction. Two

semester hours per week.
