THERE WERE

PEOPLE LITERALLY

EVERYWHERE ...

COULDN’T BE

ENFORCED.”

Over two days in
July, some 10,000 peo-
ple filed through East
Jakarta’s packed Pulo
Gebang bus station
to receive a COVID-19
vaccine. Indonesia
has a population of
more than 270 million
across a far-flung archi-
pelago, so its rollout
of COVID-19 vaccines
has faced challenges.
Kinks in its vaccine
supply have also caused
problems, but during
the summer, the coun-
try rapidly ramped up
its efforts. More than
a million people a day
were receiving shots.
