Don’t buy motorised kits
and expect to repurpose
the smarts: the recent
app-controlled Technic vehicles, for
instance, have firmware that locks
their power and control modules
down to those cars specifically,
which Guru thinks is the tiniest bit
anti-Lego. You can whip out the
motors, though, if you want, but it’s
not super cost-effective.
The bare minimum is a Technic
Battery Box (£30), which gives you
a couple of motor outputs and
basic switches to activate them; for
more complex controls, a Technic
Hub (£75) offers four I/O ports and
app connectivity.

Can you help

me with my

eczema?

How can I

automate my

Lego?

A

No. Guru is legally
compelled to tell you he is
not a doctor – unless we
happen to be in Venezuela, where
they’re apparently cool with his
forged diploma. But you could
maybe help yourself. A humidifier
(the £60 0 Dyson Purifier
Humidity+Cool, why not) helps stop
your bad patches drying out, but
whether that’ll actually do anything
to stop it flaring up is doubtful.
There are, though, eczema
tracking apps that can help you
manage your tincture-smearing
regime, mark down when it gets
bad, and spot potential triggers.
Try, er, Eczema Tracker on iOS.

How do you

knowso much,

Guru?

A

You’d be surprised, reader:
Guru’s day is usually four
hours’ fretting, another
couple of hours playing computer
games as a treat because he has
fretted so effectively, and about 30
minutes of sweaty, guilt-driven work
before he has to pick up the kids.
Adult ADHD will do that to you.
Sometimes there’s a manic week or
two where the decks get cleared,
much to Guru’s editors’ delight.
The key is collecting everything
together in a place which isn’t a ball
of smooth meat full of misfiring
electrical signals (aka Guru’s brain)

  • a good Bullet Journal from
    Leuchtturm 1917 (£23.50) makes
    organising information and
    upcoming tasks easy.

AN EVENING WITH SILK
SONIC
Mars and .Paak make a fine
duo, and this slick album –
which slides between funk,
soul and R&B- makes Guru go
all jiggly with joy.

BREAK THE WALL
At the time of writing, MF
Robots’ second proper album
is criminallyunderplayed on
Spotify. is must change. It’s
light, funky, rich, jazzy, feel-
good music that’ll lift you.

INSCRYPTION
Ostensibly adeck-building
roguelikefor thePC; manifestly
something much grander.Guru
won’tspoilit, but you should
knowthatthere’s a whole lot in
here to potentially spoil.
