CITROËN AMI
The Ami and its delivery version the Ami Cargo aren’t cars: they’re something
much more interesting. In much the same way Citroën’s Pierre-Jules
Boulanger invented the 2CV to give farmers a better form of transport than a
horse and cart, the Ami is here to improve city travel. Its 8bhp motor delivers
an impressive top speed of 28mph and you can get over 45 miles out of a
three-hour charge, but the real innovation here is its tiny size: it has a turning
circle of just 7.2m and it’s only 2.4m long. And it’s cheap. Really, really cheap. In
France it’s €3,000 down and €20 a month; UK prices are expected to be similar
when it comes here in 2022.
