The code libraries of González are open source design maps
of established brand identities made in order to derive new and
evolving fashion aesthetics. By mapping the historical expressions
of a brand (like Chanel) these codes can be recombined into new
expressions, with the intention of making “real” fashion, not
with the aim of making a counterfeit, but an own interpreta-
tion of the authentic brand code, as if the work was done in the
brand’s own studio.
The new garments are not copies, but as “true” in expression as
the originals since they share the same source code.
