Adddepthblur to your
Android photos
I was interested to
read your article
aboutfree photo-
editingsoftware,
especiallyTiltshift
Maker (tiltshiftmaker
.com), which
recreates the famous
‘bokeh’ effect. Did
you know that you
can achieve the same
effect on Android
usingan app called
DepthBlur(bit.ly/
blur479). This addsa
blur aroundthe
subject,whichyou can adjust usingthe
scroll wheel.I find this methodeasierto
use than TiltshiftMaker whensharing
photos onlinefrom my phone.

Manage your windows better
I hopeotherWeb Userreadersfind
this tip useful.I’ve just downloaded
WindowGrid(windowgrid.net),whichis
designedto help you managethe way
openwindows are arrangedon your
screen. It can seema little finicky at first,
so be warned.
Run the program, then as you move a
window by clickingand holdingdown
the left mousebutton, press the right
mousebutton too. This reveals a grid
that maximisesthe screen space for each
window withoutcovering any of them
up. Releasethe right mousebutton and
you can beginto ‘fill’ the grid by
arrangingyour windows.

Save your bookmarks to
Google Sheets
I’ve found an interesting browser
extensionfor Chrome called
BookmarkSheet(bit.ly/bookmark4 79 ),
whichlets you save detailsof your
favourite web pagesin Google’s online
spreadsheettool, GoogleSheets.This is
great for me, becauseI absolutely hate
managingmy bookmarksin Chrome – it’s
just so clunky and annoying.
BookmarkSheetcan’timportyour
bookmarksfrom Chrome, so you’ll need
to visit your favourite websites againand
press the extensionbutton. You can
choosewhichinfo to save into Google
Sheetsand where to save it. I like the
fact that the extensionsaves bookmarks
in a usefulformat that I can share –
whichwill be handyif I ever switch to
anotherbrowser but don’twant to
importold bookmarks.

When I’m workingon my laptop, I tend
to have lots of browser windows open.
It’s not ideal,but needsmust. However,
I end up spendingalmost as muchtime
switchingbetween my mainwindow
and all my otherprograms as I do
working. It used to annoy me that I
couldn’tjust set my mainbrowser
window to ‘Always on top’, as you can
with othersoftware. Luckily, before I
lost my marblesand my valuabletime,
I found Pennywise. Yes, for some
reason it’s namedafter the clown from
StephenKing’sIt, but it’s also a
ridiculouslyusefultool. Downloadit

pageyou want to ‘float’ – whichis the
app’s way of saying ‘Always on top’.
