struction costs for the whole building. CBTG concluded that the construction
cost savings were predominantly derived from labor savings. The study also
examined operational costs using a life cycle cost analysis over 30 years. The
study affirmed that the integrated system approach enabled faster maintenance
and upgrade implementations resulting in a 37% operational cost saving.
Conclusion
The aforementioned studies and research were conducted at different times by
different groups using different methodologies and assumptions. However, the
broad conclusions reached by these independent studies are all similar: the
integration of building technology systems increases the efficiency of building
design and construction, and produce more functional building systems that
improve the operational performance of the building while lowering costs.
