macOS Monterey was also announced at
WWDC and released on October 25, 2021. A
number of iOS features were ported over to
the Mac, including big changes to FaceTime,
like the ability to share a link and use FaceTime
over Zoom or Google Hangouts. SharePlay
was added to the Mac, as well as support for
spatial audio, alongside Universal Control across
devices with single mouse or trackpad. Apple
added a controversial update to Safari which
was later backtracked, and the Shortcuts app
arrived on the Mac for the first time to allow
consumers and professionals to get more
work done. Live Text and Visual Lookup were
added to the Mac, and a number of Privacy
enhancements were also added to the OS.


On watchOS, Apple added support for ID cards
and keys in the Wallet app, and a new Home app
was added to allow consumers to control their
smart homes from their wrists. Apple also added
new Workout options, and a Mindfulness app
to allow consumers to get closer to their zen.
Sleep was given some more updates to create a
powerful tracking ecosystem, and Apple added
a Portrait mode watch face. Messages were
given improvements and Apple added Focus,
its new productivity suite, to watchOS to reduce
the number of distractions.

Apple’s next event took place on September
14, where the company showed off the all-
new iPhone 13 range. Similar to last year’s
iPhone 12, many said that this year’s updates
were more of an ‘S’ year, though substantial
