systems; such an investment could greatly improve the capacity to advance interdisciplinary social science
research.


  • Create a training institute similar to the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research’s
    (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research at the University of Michigan with
    workshops, training sessions, and courses by visiting faculty (sociologists and non-sociologists) dedicated
    to studying social dimensions of climate change. This could be done in collaboration with NSF Science and
    Technology Centers (STCs), Engineering Centers, Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship
    (IGERT) programs, and Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE).
