FritzieAbadiwasborninAleppo,Syria,in1915.Attheageoftenshecameto
theUnitedStatesofAmericaandin 1946 studiedwithTschacbasovattheArt
StudentsLeagueofNewYork.HerworkhasbeenexhibitedinNewYork,Wash-
ington,andelsewhere.ShewonaprizeforgraphicworkattheNationalAssociation
ofWomenArtistsexhibitionin1949.Inthesameorganization'sexhibitionin 1950
shewasawardedtheCooperUnionPrizeforoilpainting.

SamuelAdlerwasborninNewYorkin1898.Inhisnativecityhestudiedatthe
NationalAcademyofDesign,towhichhewasadmittedbyspecialdispensationatthe
ageoffourteen.
Adler'searlyyearsweredevotedtobothartandmusic,andheusedtheviolinas
ameansofsupportduringthefirstyearsofhiscareerasapainter.In^1927 he
abandonedprofessionalmusicentirelyinordertodevotefulltimetoart,butkept
music(thestringquartet)asaculturalpursuit.Thirtyyearsofpaintingculminated
inhisfirstone-manexhibitioninNewYorkin1948;othersfollowedattheUniversity
ofIndianaandinLouisville,Kentucky.Duringthesummerof^1951 hespentsome
timeinItaly,wherehisconvictionsaboutartasstatedaboveandinlastyear's
cataloguewerestrengthened.
