AcademyofFineArtsinCopenhagenandtraveledinNorway,Sweden,Germany,
France,England,andScotland.In 1921 hecametoAmerica,andsincethattime
hasvisitednearlyeverystateintheunion.
Merrildhasbeenawardednineprizesforpainting,sculpture,andthecraftsand
hasexhibitedwidelythroughouttheUnitedStates.Hisworkhasalsobeenonview
inParis.HehasnevertaughtartbutistheauthorofthebookAPoetandTwo
Painters(London,1938;NewYork, 1939),amemoirofD.H.Lawrence,witha
