Record of a Friendship

To keep mentioning, however, and to make known that Orgone physics
is registered under experimental natural science in America would induce
many "scientists" to change their minds.
I look forward to you having a child. You owe it to humanity.
Why don't you gradually replace your staff by people who went
through our work? I believe it would ease your task tremendously.
My best wishes to you and all.

My dear Reich,

If you think this article fitting for the Journal please hand it
on to Wolfe. Even if you disagree with some of it!
I have just had another adverse criticism of your work. A biologist
from the Rothamsted Experimental (Agriculture) Station came last
year to see us and took your Bione book and three journals with him.
He returned them yesterday with a letter ... "I have passed them on to
various biologists and biochemists here. The general result is, the value
of the psychology we don't know, but the biology and 'science' are
hopeless. Reich's microscopic descriptions show that he knows nothing
of microscopy, and it is probably all a lot of rubbish." I hope to live
long enough to write him saying: "How do you feel now that Reich has
been proved right?"
Your photos all convince me that you have got a great kid and a
most pleasant-looking wife. I hope it won't be long until I see the three
of you.
Meanwhile I am going through a most difficult stage. Section of staff
very much against my secretary who means a lot to me in every way.
Constance has come down for a few weeks to help solve the problem,
and is giving the staff breathing. * But living in a community is not her
nature and she says a month or so will be all she can bear. At the moment
the school is all divided, and the rebels talk to old pupils and parents

* Exercises which Constance Tracey had learned while she was Reich's patient
in Norway; they helped to relax the abdominal muscular tensions that contributed
to maintaining neurotic inhibitions under repression.
