Record of a Friendship

We are putting up a $4000 building on Orgonon for experimental
work.
Your suggestion of the possibility of a future liberalistic social setup
without profit sounds very probable.
You should not feel too bad about the marriage license. We took
one out ourselves after 6 years of marriage, in order to satisfy the
worries of the naturalization office about our moral status. Do you
think the moralistic pest wiII ever vanish from the face of the earth?
It seems like an important asset to have-nots.

My dear Reich,

June 25, 1945

Yours today. Also one from Philipson who seems to be most
anxious to get out of Scandinavia now.
Re conference. Don't know what inner objections I have to having
one at S'hi1l. I haven't got back to Suffolk yet and when I do (this
autumn I hope) it will mean a long time of hard work to build it up
again. That incidentally will conflict with my wish to lecture in U.S.A.
A conference run by you yourself would be most welcome to me in
S'hill at any time. But even then I'd want at least a lecture by you in
London where there are people who know of you now.
Ten you what I feel, Reich. That the Scandinavian group narrowed
down your teachings too much. They saw it too much from the curative
point of view; their horizon was the patient. Mine is the life of a child,
eating, playing, learning, sexual, fighting, striving. I think your disciples
tend to lose perspective just as Freud's did. Disciples are a damned
nuisance every time. Let's abolish them! Most boring letters I get are
from fans who look on me as their inspiration or lea der. Mein Gott!
Nein, Reich. StilI I see that a Conference would help disciples to get
back their perspective. S'hi11 is open for YOUR conference any day.
Exchanged a few letters with Hamilton. Maybe winter of 1946. No
use coming in summer for no lectures will be on then, and I must make
some money if I come. Am losing all the time now, with high prices and
poorish parents. I wish I had some trade or business to support the
school. May try market gardening, for my land in Suffolk is rich.
