Record of a Friendship

(Ben Green) #1

years a fear of death connected with S'hill. When at any time in London
I happened to be in a Blitz, my first thought was: If I am bumped off
what will happen to S'hill? Which means of course the old silly idea that
no man can do our job if we depart. All the same, I can't find any man
I'd like to carry on S'hill after my death. It doesn't matter though, for
any man would change it, and if he didn't he'd show he was a nobody.
I long to see you and talk with you. So many things I want to ask
about. o. reflex-I am now 62 Y2 and naturally there must be a gradual
process by which sex desire lessens. Or should it? I find I can go longer
without wanting any sex. Is that normal or a legacy from my Calvinism?
I'm not worrying about it; only curious.
I am doing no psychological work at all. Can't get staff and have to
teach maths myself, but waste so much time entertaining visitors. We
had 60 teachers at one time last week, and another 30 come next
weekend. Good for them, but hard work for me, for I have to give them
a long talk every time (free of charge, too, damn them).
Buddha Leunbach is coming for three weeks. She is translating my
books into Danish. Apparently she is the girl who sat outside NO. 1 10*
summer '39 with too little on, much to your annoyance at the time. But
she writes sensibly.
Orgones are still outside scientific language here. How long till they
are recognised?
All the best to self and wife and kid. I want to see him. And die
Frau auch [the wife too].

P.S. Latest story here: Young soldier fell in love with the regimental
goat and was sent to a psychoanalyst.
Analyst: "Let me see now, is it a he-goat or a she-goat?"
Soldier (indignantly): "A she-goat of course. You surely don't think
I'm neurotic, do you?"
