Record of a Friendship

(Ben Green) #1

that is if friend Collins· isn't too old by the time the roof is put on.
It was a great treat to be so long with you.

When you left, there was quite a gap at Orgonon. There was no
emperor figure, walking slowly and meditatingly up the road towards
the lab, there was no one playing around with the lathe and envying me
for having it; there was no one I could tease with Stalin and no one to
pour drinks into. Well, we shall have it again.
We shall be back in New York some time at the end of next week, and
shall call you as soon as we are settled.

I hope that your plans are proceeding well in New York.
It will interest you to hear what happened with Peter after you left:
These facts corroborate fully my statement as to the core of his troubles.
First, he developed a great love for his dolI Erica. He takes her to his
bed every evening, caresses and hugs her and shows clearly that he is
longing for a girl. Second, he told lise last night the following: "I have
a dream about being grown-up and married with a woman. We undress
and go to bed and I hug her breasts." Well, you cannot have it more
clearly than that. All the other aspects of the problem are secondary to
this core. I am ready to take all responsibility in public for the overall
important and crucial point in the education of small children. Peter is
very fine, lovely and healthy again. But the problem is not solved. It is
not solved for millions of children. The evasion of the words orgasm,
