I haven't written for a long time simply because I did not know
what to say to you. I have heard via Raknes of the failure of your
appeal, also that you can appeal to the highest court. You said in your
last letter that I should read the whole legal case, aber wie [but how]?
Is it published?
I have more than once wondered why you did not call cured patients
to the witness stand. I guess it is too late now, but if a dozen benefitted
patients had got up at the first trial and sworn that O. Energy helped
them to health, the FDA would have found it difficult to discount their
evidence.
But what now? There seems to be a conspiracy to totschweigen [kill
by silence] the whole affair. I signed a letter along with Sir Herbert Read
and others protesting against the scandal of your martyrdom, but no
paper would take the letter. We tried the New Statesman and Nation
and also the Manchester Guardian. Our impotence is appalling, partly
because of our ignorance of what is going on.
We do not know on what grounds your appeal was dismissed. I have
some fear that the highest court will support the lower ones since the
affair now seems to be strictly the legal one of contempt of court.
Lawyers like doctors are a closed corporation backing each other up.
As Shaw said: Every profession is a conspiracy against the layman. In
your case the layman being the skilled doctor who would not follow
the vested interests of the profession. Alas it isn't much consolation to
