[In May 1956, Reich had been sentenced to two years in prison for
contempt of court. All appeals having failed, he filed to have the
sentence reduced or suspended. The hearing was held on March
11, 1957, in Portland, Maine. Reich's motion to have the sentence
suspended was denied, and Reich was led from the courtroom in
handcuffs. He was imprisoned in the federal penitentiary in
Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. On November 3, 1957, he was found
dead in his cell. The diagnosis was massive heart failure.]
