Record of a Friendship

come back in 100 years to see what a damned fool humanity has made
of things.
My own affairs go fairly well. My reflex is not so good as it was,
possibly mainly because I have not "love" to perfect it. Here again
censorship is difficult ... when a man wants to write about himself to
his psychologist, he hesitates to say so much as he would say in ordinary
peace time. All the same I do not feel one bit neurotic: I can work, but
unfortunately I prefer digging and building bricks to analysis. Gatt,
I wish I could come over to you and have some more therapy all
the same.
I get no news from Oslo. I wrote to Elsa Backer· and the letter took
14 days to reach her.
When I was in hospital my surgeon took your booklet on Cancer to
read. He said he could not follow it because he was not a pathologist,
and could he lend it to the pathologist at Ipswich Hospital? I said yes.
The pathologist returned it saying that he did not understand it but it
was all wrong! They are all schoolboys really.
The school is full, although we are getting less money now. But
money I do not worry about so long as I can work.
Tell me what is happening with you, and send me every paper
you print or stylograph [mimeograph]. Take twenty dollars off your debt
as a subscription to Sex Pol.
Well, well, Reich, enough for the present. I am always glad to get
your letters, and if and when peace comes it will be great to meet again.
