British code-breakers: In May  the British cryptanalysts had used com-
puters to break the German air force’s operational code, with the result the
British and American archives today contain thousands of signals that
were lost or destroyed at the time of Germany’s collapse. See, for example,

author, apart from the few Ultra decrypts released to the PRO in London
